Untreated Bleeding Gums Can Trigger Certain Medical Conditions

Bleeding gums is the most common sign and symptom of periodontal disease such as gingivitis as the most popular and the mildest form of periodontal disease. Bleeding gums is not the only sign that you have a poor dental health. Bad breath, toothache and receding gums are some common results of having an unhealthy and poor dental health. If left untreated bleeding gums can lead into a more serious medical and dental problems.

Superior oral health hygiene is an effective way of preventing plaque and tartar build up in the teeth that causes infection and bleeding gums. However, superior oral hygiene such as brushing and flossing alone are not enough to stop bleeding gums. The entire mouth, the teeth and gums and including the tissues inside of the mouth should be also considered in cleaning and dental hygiene.

Bleeding gums does not only indicate periodontal disease but also other medical problems such as complication in the heart by gum disease, osteoporosis, and heart attack.
